 When people fuck with the timer/burner when I’m cooking. I had some tomato sauce going at a nice even simmer, but apparently someone else in my household thought it should be boiling like pasta water, so they jacked up the temp to high and added more time to the timer... I almost want to down vote it it's so infuriating. Never happened with pasta sauce, but I've lost many bean dishes to this. Set it to a nice temp for slow boil to hydrate the beans (I prefer dried to canned.And the texture from slow boiling compared to soaking), walk away for a few minutes, walk back in to the smell of burning, the beans on high, and things splashed all over the stove.
